FUTURE FESTIVALS
Participate in international collaborative research project and stand a chance to win
Share your views and opinions on what the KKNK would look like in 2030 and stand a chance to win fantastic prizes, with a total value of R60 000.
This collaborative research project, known as Future Festivals South Africa: Possibilities for the Age of Covid-19
is developed by King’s College London (UK) and Rhodes University (South Africa). The study is funded by the British Arts and Humanities Council. It aims to investigate the impact of Covid-19 on arts festivals in South Africa, building a new knowledge base – and a collaborative network – to enable festivals to survive these challenging times, and to thrive in the future.
The project partners with some of the country’s most important festivals to develop a broad and inclusive network of stakeholders.
You are invited to participate. Reimage the future of the KKNK, by creating a Letter from the Future. Your letter in this research project has two aims:
- To provide a creative way to understand how people involved in the KKNK have experienced the pandemic, and how they anticipate it will affect the festival in the next few years.
- To provide an opportunity for people involved in the KKNK to creatively imagine new possibilities for the festival in the future.
The letters are an important part of the data set for this research project. The findings will be published in project reports and journal articles. This Future Festivals South Africaproject will furthermore use the letters as the basis for collaboratively developing ideas – alongside festival partners – for practical steps that could be taken to enable South African festivals to survive and thrive.
