Fantastic prizes up for grabs in third KKNK DramaWeb SA

If you are young and wish to hone your acting skills and stand the chance to win prizes of R50 000 in total, then you can still enter the third online KKNK Dramaweb SA competition.

“Our main purpose is to build on all aspects of acting and to develop and create a nurturing environment for growth in which all the participants can experience the wonder of the stage, each other, and hone their talents in front of an (online) audience,” says Ira Blanckenberg, initiator and organiser of the initiative.

Lizané Basson, KKNK general manager, adds: “The KKNK is part of this project because it embeds a love for the arts and literature among children and the youth, and because it provides a platform, develops skills like self-confidence and strengthens values like discipline, empathy and many more.”

One of last year’s winners, Anje Moolman (Die Krans Primary) says: “Dramaweb SA was so lovely! Not only because I actually won, but because the judges were so friendly.”

Winner Mia-Cecilia Kriel (Curro Durbanville) says: “It is online, so more learners in South Africa can participate. The feedback is great and thorough and shows where there is room for improvement. I really enjoyed the whole experience!”

Another 2021 winner, Danelle Jacobs (Hoërskool Martin Oosthuizen), says: “This competition gives you the opportunity to get out of your comfort zone and for a moment get as close as possible to ‘life on-screen’, as it’s live. It was absolutely fantastic; something I would encourage all young actors to participate in.”

Jacobus Oosthuizen (Voluit Primêre Skool) says: “If anyone asks me why I entered Dramaweb SA, my immediate answer is: ‘why not?!’ Apart from the fantastic prizes I learnt so much from the knowledgeable judges’ feedback. Being one of the 2021 winners has definitely been a highlight of my life and created so many opportunities to share my prose on my community’s stages. I am already hard at work for this year’s competition!”

Pamela Phakati (Apex High School), another 2021 winner, says: “My experience with Dramaweb SA was one of the most amazing experiences ever! I was scared at first, but I knew being a part of that competition meant a lot to me, so backing out wasn’t the answer. The feeling of performing and knowing that people are watching you – not just anyone, but people you’ve seen on TV and look up to – gave me goosebumps and motivated me to do more. Entering this competition gives you courage and it’s a platform to expose your talent. Let winning be the cherry on top, while your performance is the cake. I want to thank my Drama teacher for always believing in us and seeing the bigger picture before we did!”

The prizes, to a total value of R50 000, include:
